Creating Your Health

Welcome to Creating Your Health, my blog to post information on how you can create the health you deserve. My approach as a licensed Creative Arts Therapist & Mental Health Counselor is a holistic one, embracing the mind, body, and spirit connection and is deeply grounded in psychological theory and orientation. Use of the arts: dance, music, art, drama, poetry, allows for access to the unconscious realm. Simply put, Change takes place first in the Imaginal Realm. If you can't imagine it, how can the change manifest?

In addition to my work as a therapist, I also facilitate workshops, provide consultation, and speak on a variety of topics such as Workplace Wellness, Stress Management, Creativity, Achieving Life/Work balance. To hire, contact me for inquiries.

"Chris, What exactly do you do?.." part 2.

(*Hello everyone, It's been a long time between blog posts. Life, as you know, gets in the way, and the summer was happily busy. So, finally, here is part 2 from my original post: "Chris, What exactly do you do?.. and what are all those letters after your name?" from way back in July.)

..."Creating Your Health" is the name of my blog and my business. Creative Arts Counseling and Consulting (my creative arts psychotherapy practice) is one leg of my business.

My "What":

Creating Your Health is:

I. Creative Arts Counseling and Consulting is one leg.

II. Information Products (online courses, workshops, teleseminars, and our "Creating Your Health" bookclub) is the second leg; Main topics: creative arts therapy; mental, physical, relationship, financial, career/workplace, andLink spiritual health.

III. Team Northrup/Usana Health Sciences is the third leg.

What is Team Northrup?
“Team Northrup is a specific, practical, business and personal growth opportunity for individuals who believe in the power of the mind/body/spirit connection, who are highly motivated, who want to attract more prosperity in their lives, and who seek an exciting new path of discovery.” Christiane Northrup, M.D.

Usana Health Sciences is our product partner; USANA Health Sciences is a publicly-traded company They develop the highest grade science based health products. The company follows the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) for pharmaceutical products and its products are listed in the Physician’s Desk Reference for Pharmaceuticals. USANA’s products are trusted by professional athletes and sporting organizations. Initially, I found out about the company, after my own health crisis, when I was researching nutritional supplements, and learned that their products are ranked number 1 in the comparative guide to nutritional supplementation. I started to use the products, and was simultaneously reading, Dr. Christiane Northrup's book, "Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom". At that time, I did not even know that she endorsed these products, I found this out coincidentally when she was a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show, back in 2005. Soon after, I joined Team Northrup, and became an independent associate with Usana. It was a natural development, as I was philosophically aligned with the work of Dr. Northrup, and I was beginning to recognize the "Health-Wealth" connection; i.e., how our financial health is linked to our physical, mental, and spiritual health.

My "Why":
Many of you know that I started this blog after I had a serious health crisis, as a way to communicate about my healing process. I've wrote about some of this in previous posts.
A few of the main components involved in "Creating My Health" were:

1. Yoga and Meditation

2. Creative Arts Therapy: My knowledge and use of Creative Arts Therapy as a modality for transformation and healing.

3. Team Northrup: Reading "Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom" by Dr. Christiane Northrup, and becoming a member of Team Northrup.

4. USANA Health Sciences: Learning about USANA Health Sciences, using their superior quality nutritional products, and becoming an independent distributor for the company.

5. Mindfulness: Reading, studying several books, cd's, on mindfulness by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Jack Kornfield, Pema Chodron, Deepak Chopra (to name a few), and continuing to research and study the mind/body/spirit connection with regards to stress management and healing from physical illness.
